FAQ - Contests
FAQ - Contests
1. How do contests work on Arxilab?
The Owner starts a contest by uploading the basic project information. The Owner then determines the contest duration, stages, number of winners, and prize amount. Specialists can browse all available contests and register to participate. Specialists submit their Portfolio & Mockup (sample design) before the specified deadline. After the deadline, the Owner evaluates all submissions and selects the top three ranked projects or a single winner. The results are then submitted to Arxilab, and Arxilab distributes the prizes to the winners.
2. What are the stages in a contest?
To ensure efficiency and respect the time of both Owners and Specialists, Arxilab contests consist of at least two main stages:
Stage 1: Portfolio & Mockup Selection
Owners evaluate Specialists based on relevant portfolios and mockups (rough or initial samples based on the brief). This stage allows Owners to assess compatibility and technical capability without requiring full work from all participants.
Stage 2: Project Execution (Final Submission)
Only shortlisted Specialists from Stage 1 proceed to complete the full project details. This system ensures a more focused, efficient, and fair process, as Specialists have clearer winning opportunities.
3. How long does a contest last?
Contest duration is aligned with the two-stage system:
Stage 1 Duration: 3–7 calendar days
Time allocated for Specialists to submit portfolios and mockups, and for Owners to curate shortlisted candidates.
Stage 2 Duration: 1–4 weeks
Depending on project complexity, shortlisted Specialists are given sufficient time to complete detailed design or technical deliverables.
Note: Total duration may vary depending on the initial agreement and project scale.
4. What is the minimum and maximum number of Specialists?
The minimum number of participants is two Specialists per contest. For most contests, there is no maximum limit. However, Owners may set participation limits, which will be clearly stated in the project description.
5. Who are the Owners on Arxilab?
Owners on Arxilab are primarily architects, interior designers, engineers, and related professionals. Arxilab was created to help professionals obtain high-quality design solutions from skilled Specialists.
6. Do I need to be a licensed architect to participate?
No. Arxilab is open to all talented Specialists, including students, young architects, and professionals worldwide.
7. Is my privacy protected during contests?
Yes. The identities of both Owners and Specialists are kept confidential. Each Specialist uses an alias for every contest, ensuring that winners are selected purely based on design quality.
8. How does the point system work?
Specialists earn points as follows:
Registering for a project: +10 points
Submitting a design: +20 points
Registering but not submitting: −20 points
Winning 3rd place: +50 points
Winning 2nd place: +75 points
