FAQ - Contest Result
1. What happens if no specialists register, or if I don't like any of the submissions?
There are three possibilities:
A. If no design submissions are received by your deadline, the contest is canceled and you receive a full refund.
B. In the rare event that there are fewer than three submissions, say one or two, you can rank the submissions in the three ranking slots according to their merit, and we will refund the empty ranking slot(s). For example, if you receive only one design, you can place it in 1st place (60% of the prize), 2nd place (30% of the prize), or 3rd place (10% of the prize), and we will refund the remaining prize money back to you.
C. When you receive three or more submissions that qualify based on your submission criteria, you need to place them in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, with the first being the closest to meeting your design expectations. There is a risk that you may not like any of the submissions even if they meet your criteria. Although this is rare, you should be aware of this possibility before launching the contest. Additionally, clients sometimes request minor revisions after the contest, which is generally not an issue for specialists.
2. There are too many submissions, can you help rank the projects?
If you receive a large number of design submissions and feel overwhelmed, we are happy to guide you through the decision-making process.
3. How many submissions will I get?
The average number of entries is around 9 submissions per contest. The number will depend on the type of project and the prize you set.
4. What type of documents will I receive from specialists?
Depending on the type of contest, you will receive dimensioned plans, sections, elevations, and perspective views. Some specialists may also submit additional views, animations, and other 3D works.
5. How will my prize be distributed?
The first-place winner you select will receive 60% of your reward, the second-place winner 30%, and the third-place winner 10% of your reward. However, if you choose a single winner, the first-place winner will receive 100% of your reward.
6.How much time do I have to rank the projects?
You have one week to rank your projects.
7. I had 20 specialists register but only 9 submissions, is this normal?
While receiving 9 submissions is quite fantastic, it is common to have fewer specialists submit than register. Historically, an average of 25-50% of registered specialists eventually submit.
8. What if I like my design but need some minor changes?
Specialists are usually happy to make minor changes to their designs.
9. After my contest ends (and if necessary), can I launch a second-stage contest for my project?
Yes, after your contest ends, you can review all submissions, rank your projects, and submit them to Arxilab, at which point your contest is completed. Alternatively, you can launch a second-stage contest, allowing you to comment on all submissions. Specialists can read your comments and revise and resubmit their entries in the second stage. You can keep the second stage of your contest open to all specialists or limit it to some or all specialists from the first stage. Additionally, to launch a second stage for your contest, you need to increase the prize amount from your initial contest.
10. After I submit the ranking of the designs I receive, will I continue to have access to them?
Yes. You will always have access to all design entries. Specialists submit renderings, technical drawings such as plans and sections, and you will always be able to view and download them from your Arxilab account. Additionally, specialists often submit additional PDF documents with dimensioned technical drawings and/or CAD (computer-aided design) drawings. If there are such additional documents, you will see them listed on your evaluation screen. You will gain access to them if they are in your top 3 choices. In other words, after you review all design submissions and rank them, and if the designs are among your top 3, the system will give you access to these additional drawings. If a design is not among your top 3 but you still want to download the additional documents, you can do so for a fee determined by the specialist.
