FAQ - Contest Process
1. How do I launch an architecture contest?
On your dashboard, click "Post a Project" or "Launch a Contest". Fill in the project details, including the project name, description, and specific design requirements. Upload relevant images, maps, plans, or other supporting documents related to the project.
2. How do I decide the prize amount for a contest?
Depending on the type and scale of your project, your prize can vary. During the project upload process, the system will suggest a prize based on the type, scale, complexity, submissions, and duration of your contest. This is only a suggestion, and you are free to set your own amount.
3. When do I pay for my contest?
Before your project is launched, you will be required to pay the reward you have set for the specialists. At the end of your contest (after you rank and submit your top 3 design choices to Arxilab or determine a single winner), we will distribute your reward among the winning specialists. You can pay via PayPal or other available payment methods.
4. How long does a contest last? What is the best duration for my project?
You must decide the timeline. Your choice will depend on the size of your project and your time commitments. You can hold a short contest for conceptual ideas lasting about 3 days to a week, or longer contests up to 12 weeks.
5. Can I communicate with specialists during the contest?
Yes, you will have a dedicated discussion forum where specialists can ask questions about your project. These questions could be about specific details: dimensions, requesting more materials, etc.; or general questions about lifestyle preferences, etc. You should respond to these questions promptly. All questions/answers in the discussion forum are public. You can also post any text/images in your project discussion forum, and whenever you post anything, specialists who registered for your project will be automatically notified.
6. How do specialists see my project?
We announce projects to our specialists via email notifications, Instagram, and on the website. Every specialist can view your project details, such as the description, images, pricing, timeline, etc.
7. What type of information should I provide?
You should provide current data and what you want to achieve. You should provide images and dimensions, such as sketches, blueprints if possible, etc.
8. I don’t have blueprints, what should I do?
For most projects, designers need to know basic dimensions; for example, sketching your space on a piece of paper will be fine.
9. How do I create a successful contest?
We suggest the following:
- Create a brief and clear description. Many foreign specialists will only participate if they fully understand what the client wants.
- Ensure you describe exactly what you want (style, colors, ideas, etc.). Feel free to add images of spaces you like for inspiration.
- Provide good images and dimensions. Specialists need a clear understanding of the space.
- Set a fair prize for the project.
10. I don’t know what documents to request?
The system automatically adds a list of submissions for you. However, if you need specific documents, you can add them via the list found on the upload page. Additional documents may increase the suggested prize. You can also remove documents - the fewer documents you request, the more appealing your contest will be to specialists. Therefore, we encourage clients to request only the documents they know they need, and if unsure, leave the default documents requested by the system.
11. I have an interior design project; can I ask for details?
You can ask for what you need to implement the design, such as a list of furniture, where to buy items, item prices, color schemes, and where to place certain items you might already have. You need to specify your needs in your project brief.
12. Should I provide a budget?
It is good to provide a budget but not necessary. However, if you have a specific budget amount, include it in your project brief so that specialists can make appropriate proposals.
13. I don’t want to disclose my project location?
For most projects, you do not need to disclose your address; however, if the designer needs to consider regional climate conditions, viewpoints, etc., please provide an approximate location.
14. Can I limit the number of specialists participating in my contest?
By default, we do not limit the number of specialists. However, if you choose to limit your contest to a certain number of participants, we can do this and explicitly mention it in the project brief.
15. If I have issues taking basic measurements for my project upload, can Arxilab assist me?
Yes, we will be happy to assist you in uploading your contest. After you save your project on Arxilab, please contact us to finalize and launch your contest entry.
16. I have a complex project, requiring an entire floor design and also my back deck and possibly the front yard landscape. Should I run one contest or split it into smaller projects?
It depends on your specific needs. For example, landscaping/front yard can be run as a separate project because the pool of specialists who tend to sign up for landscape-oriented projects differs from architects specializing in renovations. The deck can be included in the home remodel project if you want an integrated design. If the design is independent of the interior, it can be run as a standalone project.
17. I am still unsure what to do and what I can do next?
We will be happy to connect you with one of our staff, who can assist you with more detailed information about your design questions. Please reach out via email at halo.arxilab@gmail.com.
18. I just launched my contest, and so far, only a few specialists have signed up; should I be worried?
No, this is quite common. Specialists usually sign up towards the end of the project timeline and are likely to submit their entries at the last hours/minutes of your project's deadline.
19. Can I increase the prize after I launch my contest?
Yes. Once you have launched the contest, you will see the "Add Prize" button on your live contest page. You can add the prize in any amount at any time through this button during your contest.
20. Can I invite specific specialists to my contest?
Yes, you can invite any specialist (whose projects you may have seen on Arxilab) or those you know personally outside Arxilab. Also, please note that once you launch the contest, all specialists on Arxilab will receive an email notification. By inviting specific specialists, you only send an additional email invitation to the particular specialists you prefer and want to participate in your contest.
